Group Presentation

We made a summary of questionnaire about university student's life style. According to it, everyone gets up early when he or she has the first class. Although the statistics shows like this, they often come round late. I don't like being late, so I wonder why students frequently come in late. I think tardiness is rude to teachers.

The second presentation

We made a presentation. My presentation ended up in failure because it differed from the presentation I had arranged. I don't know why it changed, but I am to blame for not being able to adapt to such a circumstances. I needed to be a little more tactful. I wanted to show people the presentation much better because I had prepared it.

A friend of mine

He is my close friend. His name is Dufa. If you look at him in the picture, you may think he is like an otaku, but in fact, he is a member of the FBI agency. Therefore, he is a strongly-built man. His best feature is his hair. He parts his hair on the side like many people did a long time ago in Japan. Furthermore, he wears glasses which is Japanese traditional ones as well. You can see his placing a hand on his chin. It is his habit. His small smile has a power to make a lot of women fascinated. If you want to contact him, please feel free to ask me his e-mail address. I will tell you!

The reserch about student's life style

Our group is going to do research about university student's life style. In order to do correctly, we have to get questionnaire from more than 100 students. It would be a quite tough work, but we do it. I became curious about why students came to the PUK.

The evaluation of other people

I was glad to see the comment because the majority of them said my presentation was good. However, I recieved some comments about the improvement of my presentation. I should have put more pictures on my presentation, especialy, of my family and hometown. In addition, I shouldn't have inserted the picture of snake because it caused people to feel unplesant.

South Africa

I played a role as a man from South Africa in the class. I learned a lot about South Africa. According to a geographical site, the capital of it consists of three cities. It was so amazing because I didn't know such a country. And, I studied the meaning of the flag. Red stands for blood, blue for the ocean, green for the nature, yellow for the gold which is yielded in South Africa, black and white for the wish to be a good friendship between black and white.

BR:12 Sly fox and red hen

I like it because it is so interesting. I like humorous story. There is a significant difference between Japanese humor and the western one. We, Japanese people, laugh at a Manzai that consists of Boke and Tsukkomi. On the other hand, there isn’t a comedy pattern like this in Europe and America. The difference is attributed to their cultural background.

Stevenson, Peter. (1999). Sly fox and red hen. Usborne: London.

BR:11 Apollo's gold

I like it because this makes me so excited. This is about the adventure in quest of the treasure. It contains the battle between the hero and villain. I like the scene of fighting, so I love the series of Jacky Chain. The most favorite movie is the drunken boxing. In the movie, Jacky got drunk. Under the condition, he fights with villains. He is so cool. I want be a strong man like him.

Antoinette, Moses. (1999). Apollo's gold. Cambridge University Press: London.

BR:10 Different worlds

I like it because I was impressed by it. This is a love story. The hero and the heroine fall in love with each other, but the heroine is a disabled people. She can't hear and....
I might not fall in love with disabled people. It's challeging for me.
I have an important person now. I will love her forever.

Margaret Johnson. (2003). Different worlds. Cambridge University Press: London.

BR:09 Dead Cold

I like it because I love suspense novels. This is about a murder in the mountains. The plot is good, but the trick is not good. If you read it, you will tell why I said the trick is not good. However, all in all, I enjoyed rading it.
By the way, have you read the detective Konan? It is a comic which is popular amoung young people. Konan looks a boy, but he is really a high school student. He can solve the various kinds of challenging problem. Read it!

BR:08 Superbird

I like it because I love science fiction movies. The most attractive movie in the category of them is Men in Black. The movie is about aliens living in the earth from another planet. They are living in the earth all over the world, but they often commit a crime. To observe the rule, the members of a certain agency which governs the aliens sometimes fight with them and maintain the peace of the earth. This movie is not just a science fiction movie. It contains the sense of humor. Therefore, we can enjoy watching it.

These days....

These days, we are busy studying for the exam. The most challenging subject is the cultural history of European countries. We have to write up our notes, but it is too heavy to do the whole things. I do the best so as to get a good score. After the exams, I want to hang out with my friends.

My room

Let me introduce my room. My room is on the second floor. If you enter my room, you will see a bed on your left side first. The bed is by a closet. There is a comic shelf on the bedside. Because many comics are by the bed, it is easy for me to read a comic while being in the bed. On the comic shelf, there is a music player. It always brought great music to me, so I was able to have a sound sleep. However, the other day, the music player has broken. I have to have it repaired for the sake of a sound sleep. Next to the bed, there is the PC on the desk, but it has also broken. I’m afraid my electrical devices are only broken things. In front of it, you can see another desk. The desk is used for the desk work and study. My brother once used it, but he gave me it. I have used it since then. There is an enormous bookshelf near the desk. It contains so many books. However, I have never read these books because it belongs to my father. I will read these books someday. There is a TV beside the book shelf. It is not too small and too big. When I am free, I always watch TV programs from the bed.

That’s all about my room. My room is always clean and enjoyable, for it has a dartboard. You can enjoy the dart game. Please come to my house whenever.

Describing the picture

There are two people and a dog on the meadow. On your right side, you can see a man standing next to a woman. The man puts on his jacket, and wears his brown robe on it. Besides, he has a cowboy hat on. He holds a rope that leads to dog’s collar in his left hand. The dog like a wolf is standing in front of him toward to left side. The woman wears her white blouse, black shirt and long light blue skirt. She is a blond woman. They are so cool and beautiful. They might be planning to get married with each other.

These are the numbers of what is cocerned with me.

647136000 are the seconds that have passed since I was born.
6 is the number of ramen restaurants that I like in Kumamoto.
11 is the age that I stopped believing in Santa Clause.
7 is the number of perfume that I have.
12784 is the distance of kilometer that I have driven the car since I had received it.
8000 is the amount that I spend on the gas of the car.
3 is the number of wisdom teeth that I have.
210 is the number of the best score that I got at a bowling game.
96 is the number that I like, for it can be called “Kuro” in Japanese. Kuro is my name.
0 is the number of the games that won matches when I go to the stadium.

The Ugly Duckling: BR07

Once upon a time, there were seven eggs. (p.3).

I was impressed by this book. I thought that the title of this book was terribly sorry. I actually felt so as I read on it, but the story made an about-turn in the end. I like such a story. This book gave me a courage to live even if I were teased by people around me. If I live strongly, a someone who helps me will appear before very long. I learned that everyone has his or her friend.

Davidson, Susanna. (2000). The ugly duckling.  Usborne: London.

The Reserch of otosidama

I carried out a survey about otoshidama. Everyone seems to have gotten otoshidama in this new year. They used it for various things like shopping or hanging out with their friends. I got otoshidama, too. However, because of my age, the amount of otoshidama is decreasing from year to year. I no longer get otoshidama. Besides, if I get a job, I will have to give small children of my relatives. Considering these, I cannot help feeling low.

BR:06 ALADDIN

There was once a lazy boy whose name was Aladdin. (p.3)

I like this because I can fancy that I fly by magic carpet. If I had the magic carpet, I would come to school by it instead of car because it is of little relevance to the traffic rule. I would feel good with seeing traffic jams. Besides, I want a magic lamp. If you rub it, a fairy will appear and make your dream come true. It is so good. I wish I could have similar experience like in this story.

Hobart, Ruth. (2006). Aladdin. Cideb Editrice: New York

Roasso Kumamoto

Last weekend, I went to watch the soccer game, FC tokyo vs Roasso Kumamoto. I endorse Roasso Kumamoto. FC tokyo has a lot of good talent. It was thought that the game was challenging. As expected, Roasso Kumamoto lost. Every time I go to watch games, the team I supported is beaten. I felt sad, but I won the toto, a soccer lot, so I became happy.

Ramen

I love ramen. I went to a ramen restaurant last weekend. The restaurant serves the tonkotsu ramen. I like tonkotsu ramen the best of various ramen, particularly the traditional Kumamoto ramen. Kumamoto ramen is basically made of mixed soup with tonkotsu soup and burnt garlic. The flavor is so good, but it is too strong. Therefore, if you eat it when you are sick, your illness might become bad. Be careful. I don’t like ramen which is made of soy sauce so much. However, I loved just Onomichi ramen, which is made of that. If you go to Hiroshima, try to eat it! And you will find it so nice.

BR:01-05 Goldilocks and the three bears

Once upon a time, there were father bear and mother bear and baby bear in the house.  (p. 4)

I like this book. Porridge comes out in the story, but I wonder how the taste is. According to the dictionary, porridge is made of milk and oatmeal. To hear that, I don't like it because I hate dishes which is made of milk. So, for example, I don't like carbonara. However, as porridge is a traditional dish in Britain, I want to try to eat it. Incidentally, I like okonomiyaki the best of all Japanese dishes. Mr. Tomei, do you like it?

BR1-04: The hare and the tortoise

Once upon a time, there are a hare and a tortoise. (p.3)

I like this story because I can sympathize for the tortoise. As you see, I can't run fast. In particular, I hate to run a marathon. However, I never walk while the marathon even if it is hard for me. My friend, Kenta, likes marathon. I can't agree with him at all.

BR1-03 Puss in Boots

There was a poor miller, who had three sons. (p. 5)

I like this story because the cat in this story is very clever.
Actually, I liked dogs better than cats. However, these days, I like cats, in particular fat cats. I think that fat cats is cuter than thin ones. I had a dog once, but I don't have any pets. So next time, I want to have a cat which is clever like the cat in this story.

Fiona Patchett. (2005). Puss in Boots. London: Usborne

The trip to Shikoku

I went to Ehime prefecture last weekend. It was so fun, but I was tired because it took us seven hours to arrive there by car. It was Dogo Onsen, a hot spring, that refreshed us who was exhausted. Dogo Onsen is the traditional spring which is registered as a cultural property. I recommend to you that you go there someday.

My treasure E2

I would like to talk about my treasures. I have a lot of physical things that I can regard as treasures.
I come to school by car. The car, which I received from my parents, is one of my treasures. I can go everywhere even if I cannot go by train or bus. I have even visited Aso in my own car with my friends. If we had climbed up Mt. Aso on foot, we would have been very tired. However, as we climbed up by car, we were not drained.
Another treasure is a letter from my old friend. When I was an elementary school student, I had a close friend. His name was Kenta. I used to play with him after school. Although we often had a quarrel with each other, I was on very good terms with him. One day, however, he had to move abroad because his father was a diplomat. On the day when he left Japan, I saw him and shook hands with him. Then he gave me a letter. I was happy because I had never got any letters from him. After I went back home, I read his letter. The letter said that he also thought I was the closest friend in his friends. Since he has gone to a foreign country, I haven’t gotten in touch with him. However, I believe we will be the best friends forever.
I talked to you about physical treasure, but my best treasure is my memories. I am twenty years old now. I had a lot of experience, especially in school. I have had so many friends in school. I sometimes hang out with them. Every time I hang out with them, I get good memories. I think the memories are the very invaluable treasure.

We make brief responses while listening

I often make brief responses while listening, so-called "Izuchi".
However, I have a few vocabularies of Izuchi. When I agree with someone, I always say "Yeah, me too."
I don't have another phrase when I do so.
Because I learned the phrase, "So do I", I will use this phrase.

BR1-02 : The Dragon Painter

Once upon a time, there was Chang in China who was a famous painter. (p. 3)

I like this book. This is a fancy story in China. A painter who is famous in China drew a picture of the dragon. The dragon on the picture emerged as a real dragon. Then, the painter came up with an idea and sealed up the dragon. I like this story because it is very exciting.

Dickins,Rosie. (2006). The Dragon Painter. London: Usborne

My GW

I went to Kirishima, Kagoshima, because I wanted to go to a certain restaurant to eat Jidori, or chickens.
The restaurant which I've been to is a famous restaurant, Miyama. I love the Jidori because it's so juicy. Try to eat Jidori at the restaurant, and you would be impressed by the taste.

BR1-01: The Musicians of Bremen

Once upon a time, there was a very mean man. (p. 3)

I like this book. This book is about a combined effort. Although a robber broke into a house, animals; a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, cooperated with each other and booted out the robber. I learned the importance of the cooperation. I think that we can't live by ourselves.

Smith, Simon. (2000). The Musicians of Bremen. London: Pearson Education.

Dear my friend

Dear my friend

Hello! My name is Yuki K. I am a twenty-year-old man living in Kumamoto, Japan. I go to the Prefectural University of Kumamoto. I belong to the department of English language and literature. I study the novels of America and Britain and cognitive linguistics every day. What do you study?
After graduating from this university, I want to be an air-traffic controller. An air controller is the ideal job for me because I like to watch airplanes. When I was a child, I used to go to the airport to watch them. At that time, my mother said to me, “The air-controllers who can speak English fluently when they communicate with pilots are so cool.” Since then, I have been interested in this job. Now I am impressed by their sense of responsibility. They must not make a mistake during their communication, for if they made a mistake, it means that a lot of people would die. It is certainly a hard work, but I think it is cool. So I want to be an air controller. What would you like to be in the future?
By the way, what are you interested in? Movie, music or sports? One of my interests is traveling. The most favorite place that I have visited is Okinawa, Japan. Do you know Okinawa? Okinawa, a tropical island, has beautiful sky, sea and scenery. I cannot look at the scenery without being impressed by it. I always refresh myself when I go there. Do you have such a good location where I can look at great scenery? If you have, please take me there. Besides, I am looking forward to the dishes in your country. What do you recommend? I like everything but shellfish.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely

YUKI

Besides, I will talk about Makiko's sister. She is a junior high school student. She is very interesting and talkative. She plays combat sports like Karate. She is on good terms with Makiko. She always makes Mkiko smile.
